Benign!

Maeve's test results came back and the lump was benign!  Her scar is healing pretty well, and the staples come out Tuesday. Dr. House said that her blood was was "incredible" for a dog Maeve's age!!

Fifty Pounds of Attitude

ScarFace

On Friday the 11th, Dr. House removed Maeve's "easy button," the hard lump that was above her left eye. Maeve also asked the Doctor to remove the wart that was to the left of it and she said, "sure!" So now Maeve is sporting scars that make her look like she either came out on the wrong side of a bar fight with a hooker or she had a lobotomy!

The incisions are closed with a combo of sutures and staples, giving Maeve a "biker chick" look!

Dr. House saw Maeve on Thursday for her annual check up and concerned, tried to take a biopsy of the easy button. It was solid, so she couldn't get anything. Hence the need to come in and have it removed on Friday. It was a simple, out patient thing---just a local---and Maeve was a good girl the entire time. The lump was solid and the doctor never saw anything like it. Went down to Maeve's skull. We should have the lab results later this week but the doctor thought it was benign.

TEETH!

Margot is losing her puppy teeth. Last weekend, she and Fiona were wrestling, and Fiona came over to me with a couple blood spots on her face. There were no wounds on Fiona, so I realized that it had to be Margot losing teeth. Sure enough, I looked down and found the canine's puppy canine on the rug.  A couple hours later, I picked up her other canine from the floor!  Today, I found another puppy tooth on the kitchen floor.  She is a jack o lantern of a puppy now!

Growing like a bad weed and wild as ever. Long-suffering Maeve and Fiona are handling her antics well but we wish they would play a more active role in teaching her the "pack rules."

Problems at both ends....

Both Fiona and Margot were having digestion woes yesterday. After breakfast, Fiona threw up and Margot was having issues at the other end (the dreaded runs).  Thank goodness it wasn't full-fledged diarrhea and by the late afternoon, things were firming up! Spared Margot a trip to the vet.

Fiona, when mommy got home, decided to eat some grass in the backyard and promptly bring it right back up.  About a half hour later, she enthusiastically ate her dinner and has been fine since.

The digestion problems didn't keep them down, as they felt good enough to mix it up in the evening with Maeve.

Missing Maud. Yesterday would have been Maud's 12th birthday, which made me realize how much I miss the old girl. But Maud is with sweet Agnes, able to run and play like a puppy again. Poor Maud, her degenerative myleopathy stole her mobility but not her spirit. Rest easy, sweet Maudie, we will see you again and give you big smooches!

Birthday Girl Redux

The birthday girl enjoyed her big day. Above, Fiona puts on her "boo boo" face.  How could anyone resist?  She's got her present beside her, wrestled from the mouth of Margot.

Happy Birthday, Fiona

Our blog begins on Fiona's birthday. She turns two today! Got a nice present, too. The birthday girl's picture is directly below.......

A short introduction, we are three golden retrievers:  Maeve, Fiona, and Margot. While Maeve cannot claim the Stormy Point bloodline and AKC title like Fiona and Margot, she is still very much a beloved member of the pack.  We really aren't big on the whole AKC thing since we are not allowed to be show dogs because all of us are or will soon be spayed. It's much better that way because we don't always like to follow the rules and we don't want to be groomed. When you're a show dog, you have to behave, get bathed regularly, have your nails trimmed (anything but THAT), and suffer other indignities.  We truly have the Life of Riley, as you will discover as you read more about us.
We will share our history in later blogs, but today's blog is just an introduction, best done with photos.
